SobrietyWorks began with a voting problem.
I was helping with an AA election that used A.A.’s Third Legacy Procedure. The voting tools I found could run a poll, but they could not handle the process we actually used. Some also collected information about participants or targeted them with advertising.
So I built a tool that fit the election and protected the people taking part.
When I showed it to trusted servants from other Areas, they recognized the problem immediately. However the prospect of maintaining it and paying to host it was intimidating.
The need was larger than one election and one tool; all our recovery communities need great tools that respect our traditions and deliver at cost.
SobrietyWorks grew from that realization. We build software for the recurring work that keeps our recovery communities functioning, while safeguarding our anonymity. (Read Our Promise)
These tools are free to use, without advertising or user tracking. They are supported by voluntary contributions and built by gifted people in recovery contributing their unique talents. (Volunteer with us)
What began as one voting tool became a way to make recovery service work easier without making the people doing it more exposed.
